MCGC Sings with the VSO

OCT 29th & OCT 30th!

Members of the Montpelier Community Gospel Choir will sing with the Vermont Symphonic Chorus as they rejoin the Orchestra for the first time since the pandemic returning to the Flynn and performing two fascinating choral works. The concert features the world premiere of Dr. Matthew Evan Taylor‘s piece, from despair … Light!, which forms part of his African American Requiem Series. from despair…Light! explores gospel choral traditions of hymn lining, touching on themes of grief, loss, and shared healing. MCGC will also join in singing Vaughan Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region, set to poetry by Walt Whitman, which celebrates the spirit of youthful adventure. 

The concert on Oct. 29th begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Flynn in Burlington, VT, and on Oct. 30th at 3:00 p.m. at the Paramount in Rutland, VT.

Saturday, December 10th and Sunday, December 11th

Our Fall 2022 Concerts will take on Saturday, December 10th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 11th at 4:00 pm at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier, VT.  

This concert will feature gospel and holiday music from artists like Kirk Franklin, Dr. Ysaÿe M. Barnwell, Rollo Dillworth and Richard Smallwood including an opportunity for the audience to sing with the choir! 

This concert will also be the debut of Verdis LeVar Robinson as the  new Artistic Director. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information and tickets!

MCGC Spring 2022 Concert

Our first in-person concert since the pandemic. At this concert, we paid tribute to long-time member and Board member, Paul Hartman; said our farewells to long-time Artistic Director, John Harrison; and welcomed our new Artistic Director, Verdis LeVar Robinson.  Performance: May 14, 2022, at Christ Episcopal Church, Montpelier, VT.
